Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows — Heads Up for Parents

Despite its family-friendly PG-style tone, the sequence where turtles are hunted by police and publicly labeled as monsters after breaking into a police station carries more tension than typical for this franchise, and may prompt questions from younger kids about fairness and fear of the unknown.

About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

The four turtle brothers team up with April O'Neil, Vern Fenwick, and eventually Casey Jones to stop the escaped villain Shredder (Destroyer) from allying with the alien warlord Krang to open an interdimensional portal and unleash a war machine on New York City. Along the way, the mutants Bebop and Rocksteady are created and the turtles must decide whether to reveal themselves publicly to save the city, all wrapped in a fast-paced, comic-book action tone with lots of humor.

✅
Fine for kids to watch alone
Content is largely comic-book action appropriate for ages 8+, though parents of sensitive children under 8 may want to watch together given the startling appearance of Krang's spaceship and the mutant rat encounter in the tunnels.
