Saw — Heads Up for Parents

Beyond the expected gore, parents should be aware the film includes a home invasion scene where a gunman abducts a mother and young child at gunpoint, and a subplot involving marital infidelity (Lawrence's meetings with Carla) that adds unexpected emotional weight to an already disturbing horror film.

About Saw

Saw is a dark horror-thriller about two strangers, Adam and Lawrence, who wake up chained in a filthy bathroom with a corpse between them, forced to play a sadistic game devised by a serial killer known as Jigsaw who tests his victims' will to survive through brutal traps. The film intercuts their ordeal with a police investigation and flashbacks to other victims, building to a gruesome twist ending. The tone is grim, claustrophobic, and relentlessly tense.

⚠️

Watch with your child

This film is not appropriate for anyone under 18; if older teens (17+) do watch it, a parent should be present to discuss the graphic torture imagery (such as Amanda cutting open a corpse, and Lawrence sawing off his own foot) and the disturbing moral philosophy Jigsaw uses to justify his actions.
