Happy Death Day — Heads Up for Parents

Despite its comedic tone, the film includes a graphic knife stabbing in the final confrontation between Tree and Lori, plus an escaped killer chasing Tree with a gun through a hospital — moments that are more intense than the film's playful trailer marketing might suggest.

About Happy Death Day

Happy Death Day is a horror-comedy about a college student named Tree who relives the day of her murder over and over, forced to solve her own killing before the masked murderer gets her for good. It blends slasher-movie scares with a lighthearted, Groundhog Day-style structure, and ultimately becomes a story about Tree becoming a kinder, more genuine person.

Best watched together
Teens 15+ can likely handle this alone, but younger teens benefit from a parent present to help process the repeated murder sequences, the reveal that Tree's own roommate Lori is the killer, and the frequent strong language including 'bitch' and 'fuck.'
